Our
hero, known throughout cyberspace as simply "Cobra," is
walking down a jungle path deep in Africa.
It
is a rainy day today and many of the native animals and humans are
staying out of the rain. Cobra, however, is not. He is on a mission
to bring food and medicine to local children in a plaque stricken
village.
He
is called "Cobra" because he is as quick as one and he has
been known to wrangle the serpents, using the venom he collected
from them to make anti-venom. And, to those who dare to oppose him,
be they man or animal, he was just as deadly.
Following
behind Cobra, sniffing the air for possible danger to his master,
was Cobra's loyal friend "Kiowa," a rare white tiger.
Don't be fooled though. Kiowa was far from tame. Kiowa was born in
the wild but before he was 3 months old, his mother and father were
killed by poachers. Had Cobra not shown up in time, Kiowa would be
in a zoo or circus right now.
Cobra
caught the poachers in the act and beat them within an inch of their
life, turning them over to the local game warden. From that day
forward, Kiowa was raised by Cobra. When the time came for Kiowa to
go back to the wild, he chose to stay with his benefactor. They made
a great team, breaking up many poaching and drug running rings.
Today
they were on a mission of mercy. But it was not going to be an easy
one. To get the food and medicine to the village, they would have to
travel through part of the most dangerous area of jungle. The part controlled
by a vicious War Lord called Barrack Bin Llama.
Bin
Llama had lost many men and, more importantly to him, much money
because of Cobra and Kiowa. He had put a bounty of $1,000,000 on
their heads to anyone bringing their mangled bodies back to him.
Many had tried and their bones lay rotting in the jungle.
As
Cobra and Kiowa walked down a seldom used path, Kiowa stopped and
crouched, snarling quietly.
"What
is it, my friend?" Cobra quizzed, stopping and looking to the
south where Kiowa was staring.
What
he saw made his temper flare. There, just off the path, almost
hidden in the heavy growth, was one of Bin Llama's
"patrols." They had not seen or heard Cobra and
Kiowa...yet. They were busy tying up a woman, a white woman. The
woman looked very fearful and was crying.
"Kiowa,
go around behind them and distract them." Cobra quietly
instructed the brave tiger. Kiowa, carefully choosing where his paws
stepped so as not to alert the occupied men, moved to circle around
behind them.
As
Kiowa moved, Cobra did also. He climbed up a tree overlooking the
group of villains. As he did, he recognized the white woman. It was
Rachel Greene, a missionary who had helped many of the local
villagers.
He
waited for Kiowa to get their attention, every muscle in his body
tensed for the attack....
