Although this idea is not original with this Website, we're running with it. Tired already of soaring gasoline prices? Tired of seeing more of your hard earned cash burn up in your vehicle? Then DO something! Join the "NO GAS & REDUCE DRIVING SUNDAY" Campaign. It's very simple and will keep a little of that cash in your pocket, as well as hurt the U.S. oil companies and OPEC. Don't buy ANY gas on Sunday. NONE! And don't buy it on any other day to make up for it. Reduce your driving on Sunday, making all your trips shorter or not making them at all that day. Carpool that day, where possible. Take public transportation. Walk. Ride a bike. Ride a horse. Skateboard. Anything to reduce your driving that day. Even a small 5 or 10% reduction in gas sales will make a statement to those who are really winning in this national crisis. And making it a habit to reduce the miles we drive on Sunday, and every day, will make them notice. Will it drive prices down? Only if we all participate and reduce the number of miles we drive. Other campaigns have been called for, such as a 1, 2, or 3 day one time stoppage. That will not (and didn't) work. See the article here for good information on these past attempts and why they were doomed to failure: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp What we, as American consumers need to do is to change our consumption of gasoline and our habits of driving. It's going to get worse before it gets better. And if you want to continue to pay the price and be "independent" hey, this is America, land of the free. It's your choice. But if you want to save some of your hard earned money and let the oil companies know that we choose to believe that the consumer, not the supplier, sets the market, then simply pass on this information. A little consumer "rebellion" is good for American capitalism. It might just help keep them honest. Remember the Boston Tea Party? But it will only work if we all participate. We can change now or pay sooner or later. And "sooner" is already here. We here at cobra74 Creations don't want you to send us your names, your e-mail address, or your money. We're not doing this for a profit or any other kind of benefit. We just are as tired as anyone of paying so much for gas. |
