Amarillo, Texas has many heroes fighting the War on Terror. This is our small tribute to those who gave everything.

   
Capt. Eric B. Das   ---   US Air Force

30, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 333rd Fighter Squadron based at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.; killed when the F-15E he was piloting went down during a combat mission in Iraq. The incident remains under investigation.

Died: 07 April 2003

  

Spec. Taylor J. Burk   ---   US Army

21, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Jan. 26 when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle in Baghdad.
Died: 26 January 2005

  

SSgt. Tommy I. Folks Jr.   ---   US Army

31, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 142nd Infantry Regiment, 56th Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division, Amarillo, Texas; died Oct. 19 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Oct. 18 when multiple improvised explosive devices detonated near his Humvee during convoy operations in Iskandariyah, Iraq.
Died: 19 October 2005

 

   

CWO Miles P. Henderson   ---   US Army

24, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Nov. 6 of injuries sustained when his AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed in Balad, Iraq. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer John R. Priestner.

Pvt. Troy D. Cooper   ---   US Army

21, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Dec. 3 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Balad, Iraq.
Died: 3 December 2006
