Let's ALL jump off the cliff...

When even your "friends" jump on your case, you could be in trouble. President Bush's second pick for the Supreme Court, Harriet Miers, has already caused some waves in Conservative circles.

Conservative radio personalities such as Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter have lambasted this pick less than 24 hours after the selection was announced.

"There was an opportunity here to show strength and confidence, and I don’t think this is it. It seems to me from the outset that this is a pick that was made from weakness.” Rush told listeners of his show, America’s most widely heard talk radio program.

Asked if she considers Miers to be what she had called John Roberts after his nomination - a "tabula rasa” - Ann Coulter, said, "No. She’s something new: a complete mediocrity.”

Well, I'm going to throw something back at these two "icons."

     Get a grip.

Even though they admit they know nothing about this selection and her qualifications, some conservatives are moaning about Miers. While admitting she could be an excellent pick in the long run, because she has donated money to Al Gore, some Republicans are freaking out.

There's not many Republicans, in politics or not, that are much further right than I am, and I'll let a secret out right now.

I voted for Jimmy Carter. Ouch!

So, if it is possible for cobra74 to have voted for a Democrat in his past and still espouse compassionate conservatism, then just maybe Harriet Miers could work out to be a solid pick to promote conservatism.

Actually, I think President Bush, having spent nearly 6 years outfoxing the left, might have just shown he is even smarter than some of the far right.

Only time will tell, but from every prediction this selection will be approved quickly and will satisfy some of the left and right. That, in turn, should help President Bush's falling poll numbers.

Yeah, I think President Bush is weak. Weak like an elephant, the symbol of the party. And sly like a fox.

Way to go, Mr. President. I think this is a great move for the party.

Thanks for spending part of your day reading about mine.

Really? Better look in the mirror, sister.
