In the state of Texas, in the year 2000, there were 89,160 reported legal abortions and 40 death row executions. 89,160 versus 40. There were 1,238 murders in Texas in the year 2000. 89,160 versus 1,238. I've often thought that I'd give up my support for the death penalty for abortion to be illegal. I recently started wondering what I'd actually be giving up. 40 versus 89,160. That's a pretty good trade. Worldwide, there are approximately 46 million, yes, 46 MILLION legal and illegal abortions performed every year. In stark contrast, there are approximately 3800 executions every year. 46 million versus 3800. In the US alone, there are over 1,360,000 abortions a year. That's about 3725 a day, nearly equaling the world wide number of executions in a YEAR. How can it be that someone would be so upset over 3800 deaths and justify 46 million? I can certainly see the arguments against the death penalty but what I don't understand is there seems to be so little flexibility in understanding why abortion is so horrible an option to some of us. Yes, I am a man and have never claimed to understand the female gender. But why is the argument that killing someone who committed a horrible crime and not killing an innocent child so hard to understand. 46 million versus 3800. Don't try and sell me that it's weeks (or months) before that child is a child. The belief that the second a child is conceived it's a person is wrong. The Pro-Choice group got that one right. A child is a person BEFORE it's conceived. I have that information from no less an authority than the God who created us all. (Jeremiah 1:5a) "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..." You can spout all the "facts" you want but the simple fact is that, left alone, that child is more than likely going to be born. It should NOT be our choice on who lives or dies. 46 million. "I can't support "it." "It" wouldn't have a good life." Firstly, maybe you should have considered that before having sex. That seems to me that YOUR needs and wants come first. That's called being selfish. Secondly, I'll spell it out for you. A-D-O-P-T-I-O-N. There are thousands of couples out there that can provide a good home for your child and are willing to do it. "But it's a woman's body and her choice." You know, I'm sure that in an overwhelming majority of cases, that woman consented to sex. In cases where rape or incest is involved, or where the life of the mother is threatened by the pregnancy, then I can agree that abortion MIGHT be an option. But those cases don't make up the majority. The majority of cases result from "convenience" and/or the lack of the men being responsible and taking care of their responsibilities. Yes, guys, abortion is YOUR problem also. When you walk out on a woman you got pregnant, you are no more than a worm. "Well, she's hard to get along with." I guess she was okay for sex, huh? If you don't have a backbone, keep it in your pants. I don't agree, at all, with resorting to violence to stop abortion either. "Hey, let's kill the doctor that is killing babies." How, in God's blessed name, can someone rationalize that action? Evil with evil. Not the way, people. "Well, what do you propose, Mr. know it all?" someone might ask me. Three simple things. Abstinence, commitment, and love. "Oh, yeah, like that's going to work." someone else states. I can think of 46 million reasons why we should try to make those things work. Over 126,000 children killed every day. I hear the screaming day after day over 2500+ deaths in the War on Terror. Why don't I hear the screams, from either side, over 46,000,000 deaths every year. I'm screaming it's time to stop this insanity. Thanks for spending part of your day reading about mine.
