Marshal Matt Dillon. Need I say more?
I
have become a big fan (again) of the TV series "Gunsmoke"
that is being rerun on the Encore Westerns Channel. I really admire
the way James Arness portrayed Marshal Dillon, a strong man with a
conscience, concern, and honor. I thought that Mr. Arness was dead but
he is not only still alive but doing quite well. You can check it out

Mr. Arness
had his autobiography recently published and I was pleased to see he
was a decorated World War II veteran, as well as an accomplished
actor.
I don't know
why finding out James Arness is alive and kicking made my day but it
sure did. I wish him and his family all the best. They sure don't make
many men like him any more...
